We had the chance to spend a week behind the wheel of this new car, and here are our detailed impressions.

Dimensions and Exterior Design
The Xpeng G6 measures 4.75 meters in length, placing it in the same category as the Tesla Model Y. This SUV features a modern and sleek design with almost no angles, giving it a clean and elegant silhouette. The body is equipped with light strips at the front, typical of the brand, which enhance its futuristic appearance. The rear, more sloped than the G9, gives it a more dynamic look, reinforcing its SUV-coupe feel. Although compact compared to other models on the market, it remains spacious and comfortable, with an impressive aerodynamic coefficient of less than 0.25.

Interior Design and Ergonomics
Inside, the G6 welcomes us with generous space. The dashboard is adorned with a 15-inch touchscreen, central to the driving interface. The quality of materials is generally satisfactory, although the finish is slightly below what one might expect from a premium model. The seats are comfortable but may be too soft for some. The ergonomics are modern, but one has to get used to the digital interface, which can sometimes be a bit confusing, especially when adjusting functions like headlights or mirrors. The central console is well-organized, but direct access to certain controls would be more practical.

Different Motorizations
The Xpeng G6 offers several versions, including the RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, and AWD Performance. Our test model was the RWD Long Range version with a range of 570 km, thanks to a 87.5 kWh battery. With 286 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, it provides a pleasant driving experience, though the performance is not as high as the AWD Performance version. The latter, with its 476 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds—an impressive feat for an SUV.

Driving Experience
On the road, the G6 proves stable and well-balanced, despite a weight of 2025 kg. The suspension is slightly firm, which can be felt on small bumps, but it remains comfortable on longer trips. The motor provides enough power for smooth and dynamic driving. However, the steering lacks communication, and the front end isn’t as incisive as some competitors. It is possible to adjust the energy recovery, which is a plus for those who prefer one-pedal driving. The G6 also offers a semi-autonomous system on highways, though it can be a bit intrusive with frequent steering corrections.

Comparison with the Competition
Against the Tesla Model Y, the Xpeng G6 offers some compelling advantages, particularly its ultra-fast 800V charging, which allows it to go from 10 to 80% in just 20 minutes. However, the Tesla Model Y retains a slight edge, particularly in terms of ergonomics and overall performance. Other competitors like the Ford Mustang Mach-E or the Renault Scénic E-Tech also enter this price range, but the G6 remains a solid choice, especially for its controlled energy consumption and quick charging times.

Price in Belgium
The Xpeng G6 is offered at a competitive price. The RWD Standard Range version starts at €35,528.93 excluding VAT, while the RWD Long Range version we tested is priced at €39,661.16 excluding VAT. The AWD Performance version is the most expensive, at €42,966.94 excluding VAT. These prices make it an attractive option against competitors, especially when considering its standard equipment, such as heated rear seats, the 15-inch screen, and 20-inch wheels.

Conclusion
The Xpeng G6 has many strengths to appeal to drivers looking for a serious alternative to European premium electric vehicles. Its range and charging capabilities are undeniable highlights. Additionally, it offers a spacious interior and a well-balanced road behavior. However, a few drawbacks, such as the slightly vague steering and imperfect suspension comfort, may deter some buyers. Overall, the G6’s pros include its reasonable consumption, impressive range, and fast charging times, while the cons focus on its imperfect digital ergonomics and firm suspension.
