Volkswagen Unveils Three Concept Cars in Shanghai: ID. AURA, ID. ERA, and ID. EVO

At the Auto Shanghai show, Volkswagen introduced three new concept cars: ID. AURA, ID. ERA, and ID. EVO. These electric vehicles preview models that will be launched in China by 2027.

Each vehicle addresses specific market expectations in China:

  • ID. ERA (SAIC VOLKSWAGEN): A full-size SUV with three rows, introducing Volkswagen’s first Range Extender technology. It offers over 1,000 km of range, combining a battery rechargeable while driving and a gasoline-powered generator.
  • ID. EVO (Volkswagen Anhui): Targeting young, lifestyle-conscious buyers, this electric SUV features an 800-volt platform and advanced electronic architecture that supports regular software updates and various innovative digital services.
  • ID. AURA (FAW-Volkswagen): Electric sedan for the A-segment, equipped with zonal electronic architecture and advanced AI technology enabling highly automated driving (Level 2++). Its user interface resembles a smartphone, featuring an intuitive humanoid assistant.

These concept cars emphasize Volkswagen’s “In China, for China” strategy, aiming to introduce over 30 new vehicles, including 20 new energy vehicles (NEVs), specifically tailored to local preferences.
