Mythopoeia Rising: When Myth Becomes Matter
What happens when myth is no longer just told, but sculpted, staged, and lived? Mythopoeïa: Fragments of Eternity brings together two singular artists — Basile Boon and Victor Cadene — in a captivating dialogue between form, memory, and imagination.

Running from May 18 to July 5 at Lxfin uptown Brussels, this duo exhibition reinvents the very idea of myth-making. It’s not nostalgia, but reinvention — a sensual, smart, and often humorous take on the symbolic threads that tie ancient stories to our modern identities.

Boon channels personal mythologies through ceramic sculptures and frescoes that feel both ancient and sharply contemporary – part ruin, part rebirth. His works spring from love, loss, and an unfiltered embrace of imperfection.

Cadene, by contrast, invites us into lush, theatrical paper worlds — ornate cut-out compositions that reference Rococo, Matisse, and the golden age of French decorative arts. Each piece is handcrafted, opulent, and alive with detail — an homage to craftsmanship and aesthetic pleasure.
Together, their works offer more than visual delight — they propose a new language of masculinity, memory, and material. In their hands, mythology becomes tactile, timeless, and irresistibly human.
