Iittala and the Beauty of Everyday Permanence

Iittala and the Beauty of Everyday Permanence

We are pushing back against noise in the way we live. Not only sound, but visual excess, endless choice, and objects designed to be replaced rather than kept. The interiors that matter now are deliberate and composed. Calm, but not empty. Refined, yet deeply human. This is not about owning less for effect, but about choosing better. Objects that justify their presence through use, material, and time.

Rooted in Finnish craftsmanship and a long-standing respect for everyday rituals, the collection does not aim to impress at first glance. It reveals itself gradually, through touch, light, and repetition. These are objects designed to live with you.

At the table, the Solare glassware introduces a seasonal palette drawn from the Nordic autumn. Muted, earthy tones soften the visual landscape, allowing food, conversation, and light to take precedence. Each piece is mouthblown at the Iittala factory in Finland, carrying subtle variations that signal the hand behind the object. Nothing is overstated. Everything is intentional.

For the first time, Iittala expands its universe with a collection of scented candles—an addition that feels natural rather than decorative. Inspired by elemental forces essential to glassmaking—fire, sand, and water—the fragrances are understated and atmospheric. Notes of cedarwood, oakmoss, suede, and crisp air create a sense of place rather than perfume. Housed in reusable ceramic vessels inspired by sculptural design language, the candles are conceived to outlast their original function.

The most quietly radical gesture appears in the Finnish Sand Edition of Ultima Thule glassware. By using sand sourced locally from Karvia, Finland, Iittala allows the material itself to determine the colour, resulting in a naturally green tint—free from dyes or additives. The iconic textured surface, inspired by melting ice, reinforces the connection between object, process, and landscape. It is craftsmanship that does not correct nature, but works with it.

What defines this collection is restraint with purpose. Nothing is designed to shout. Each object earns its place by supporting daily rituals such as pouring a drink, setting a table, or lighting a room as the day fades. This is luxury measured not by visibility, but by relevance.
