Domus: the first zero carbon emission superyacht trimaran

Dutch and Irish studios, Van Geest Design and Rob Doyle Design, have worked together to create an innovative 750 tonne megayacht called Domus. The design boat is said to be 40 metres long and nearly 800 square metres in size, four times larger than conventional yachts.

The interior has been designed to offer a unique experience.  The name Domus is inspired by the ancient Roman houses where the social elite lived and which had a central courtyard.

The trimaran will be powered by a combination of fuel cells, hydroelectricity and solar energy, giving it total autonomy. It would be completely silent whether at anchor or underway and would not emit any generator noise.

Domus covers 783 square-metres split between two decks with the main guest areas all on one deck. It is equipped with six guest staterooms with four VIPs and two spacious owner’s suites that also include their own private lounge. Domus has plenty of amenities onboard including a cinema room and a gym. The saloon comes complete with a bar and a spa area also hosts a swimming pool.

The team behind Domus have been involved in the design of over 60 superyachts, and have extensive detailed design experience, knowledge and data which allows them the confidence to undertake such a project.
