Bill Viola’s “Sculptor of Time” Exhibition: A Journey Through the Soul

Bill Viola, a titan of contemporary art and a pioneer in the realm of video art, has once again captivated audiences with his mesmerizing exhibition, “Sculptor of Time,” at La Boverie in Liège. This showcase of his profound works is a testament to his ability to touch our sensitive souls and ignite introspection.

Viola’s art is deeply human and profoundly spiritual. It delves into existential questions about birth, death, the meaning of life, and our yearning for the beyond. His creations bridge the power of video language with the timeless traditions of Renaissance painting, crafting an experience that transcends the boundaries of medium and era.

The exhibition features 18 major works spanning different periods of Viola’s career, some of which have never before been displayed in Belgium. It marks the most extensive monographic exhibition dedicated to the artist in the country.

What sets Viola’s exhibition apart is its immersive quality. The installations within the space seamlessly integrate with La Boverie’s architecture, creating a dialogue between art and environment. Visitors are invited into a multisensory experience, a moment that seems to suspend time itself.
