Jalousy: Thursday Night, Relearned

Jalousy has long held a specific place in Brussels nightlife. Neither fully bar nor fully club, it has always been used as a place where evenings begin without pressure and continue by choice. From Thursday 5 February, the venue resumes with a clearer rhythm, shaped around earlier hours and a renewed attention to how the night is actually spent.

The space is organised over two levels, each with a distinct role. Upstairs, the bar functions for arrival. Low lighting, measured pours, conversations that stretch longer on purpose. Bartenders work the counter steadily, mixing familiar cocktails alongside a short list informed by resident taste and underground influences. Orders are unhurried. Glasses rest longer on the counter. Time becomes part of the routine.

Opening at 22h on Thursdays gently reorients the night. Friends arrive after dinner, jackets still on chairs. The mood is calm, structured by habit rather than anticipation. The sound supports the room without taking it over.

Later, movement shifts naturally downstairs. In the vaulted club space, DJs shape the evening with deliberate sets that fit the venue’s taste: steady, inclusive, and rooted in Belgian and regional scenes. Recent and upcoming names on the schedule include Julien Maurin, Luna Samba, Benoît & Sergio and Miss Aimée, artists known locally for nuanced, dance-centric programming rather than peak hour theatrics. These are voices that match Jalousy’s blend of attention and ease, moving from deeper grooves into lighter house without jolting the night.

Entry is free on Thursdays, and also before midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Around midnight, a brief happy hour introduces a moment of ease. People order differently, stay slightly longer, adjust their plans without effort.

The decor remains familiar, refreshed where comfort matters most. Seating supports long nights. Layout encourages return visits. Nothing distracts from use. Everything is built to be lived with.
