Lee Broom Expands Chant at London Design Festival 2026

Light becomes architecture in The Chant Chambers, Lee Broom’s latest installation unveiled for London Design Festival 2026. Presented inside the designer’s Shoreditch showroom, the immersive display introduces Chant not simply as a lamp, but as an adaptable family of illuminated forms capable of shaping an entire interior.

First revealed during Milan Design Week in 2022, Chant takes inspiration from the architectural glass blocks associated with modernist and late twentieth century interiors. Lee Broom transformed this familiar building material into a sculptural lighting element, balancing geometric precision with a warm and atmospheric glow.

For The Chant Chambers, the original chandelier and award winning portable lamp are joined by oversized compositions, wall lights, linear pendants and architectural structures. Individual illuminated cubes can be connected at right angles, allowing Chant to form anything from a restrained geometric arrangement to a continuous installation extending across a room.

The Shoreditch space has been divided into a sequence of intimate yet connected chambers. At its centre, a striking line of illuminated cubes runs through the showroom, multiplied by mirrors to create the impression of an infinite structure. Warm lighting, wooden panelling, wall to wall carpeting and textured screens give the installation the cinematic elegance of a late 1970s interior.

That influence is reinforced by a new smoked glass finish, which brings additional depth to the sculptural blocks. Elsewhere, Chant appears as expansive illuminated planes and culminates in a dramatic three tier cascading chandelier.

“Chant has evolved from a singular lighting design into an architectural lighting system,” explains Lee Broom. The installation makes that transformation tangible. Rather than simply illuminating the space, Chant defines its rhythm, perspective and atmosphere.

With The Chant Chambers, Broom once again blurs the boundaries between product design, sculpture and interior architecture. It is an elegant demonstration of how one strong idea can continue to evolve without losing the visual clarity that made it distinctive in the first place.
