COLLECTIBLE New York: Where Design Meets Innovation and Creativity

COLLECTIBLE, the premier international fair dedicated to contemporary collectible design, is expanding its horizons with an exciting debut in New York this fall. Following seven highly acclaimed editions in Brussels, COLLECTIBLE will bring its innovative platform to the U.S. from September 5–8, 2024. The event will be held at Water Street Associates in Manhattan, offering an unparalleled opportunity for design enthusiasts, collectors, and professionals to experience cutting-edge design.

The New York edition of COLLECTIBLE promises to be a highlight of the design calendar, featuring more than 100 exhibitors from around the globe. This event will showcase a vast array of contemporary collectible design, with a focus on unique pieces, bespoke commissions, and limited editions. The exhibitors include a mix of established and emerging galleries, studios, and independent designers, presenting work that pushes the boundaries of functional design.

Among the standout galleries are Antwerp-based St. Vincents, known for representing the vibrant Belgian design scene, and the Emma Scully Gallery, a key player in the American design landscape. British contemporary design will be represented by the Max Radford Gallery, while other U.S.-based exhibitors like Room 57 Gallery and Kouros Maghsoudi will bring their distinct styles to the fair.

COLLECTIBLE New York is divided into several curated sections, each offering a unique perspective on contemporary design. The MAIN section will feature works from international galleries and studios, showcasing the breadth of design innovation across various levels. For instance, BOON_EDITIONS will unveil a new collection in collaboration with design platform The Future Perfect.

The fair’s BESPOKE section will highlight exclusive commissions and one-of-a-kind pieces from designers such as Jack Simonds Studio and Lucie Claudia Podrabska. In addition, COLLECTIBLE will revive its popular OUTDOOR section, introduced in Brussels, to meet the increasing demand for outdoor collectible design. This section will include sculptural works and innovative outdoor furniture from designers like Luke Malaney and MUHLY in collaboration with interior plant design consultants Plants & Spaces.

New to the New York edition is the FASHION section, which will explore the growing intersection between fashion and design. Curated by fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, this section will showcase collaborations between fashion designers and the collectible design world, emphasizing the functional possibilities of design in fashion retail and presentation. Notable participants include Nicholas Devlin and interdisciplinary studio AMCA OVAL.

In addition to the impressive exhibitor lineup, COLLECTIBLE New York will feature curated spaces that explore thematic currents within design. The NEW GARDE section will spotlight emerging galleries and collectives formed within the past three years, with innovative installations by talents such as Berlin’s Analog Glass and Montreal-based Verre d’Onge. Meanwhile, the ARCHITECT – DESIGNER section will present works by architects and interior designers who have expanded their practice into furniture design.

COLLECTIBLE’s debut in New York promises to be an unforgettable experience, bridging design communities from around the world and offering a platform for creative exchange. This event is not just a fair but a celebration of innovation, craftsmanship, and the future of design.
