News – Porsche Mission S : The Future Supercar Set to Sit Above the 911

Porsche is preparing a new chapter in its performance-car history. Revealed in New York in October 2026, the Mission S is more than just a design study: it previews a new mid-engined supercar that is expected to sit above the 911 in Porsche’s regular range. Unlike a limited-production hypercar, the idea is for it to become a genuine new pillar of the line-up.

Visually, the Mission S blends futuristic design with clear references to Porsche’s past. The pronounced wheel arches, compact round headlights and low front end immediately place it within the Porsche universe, while several details echo cars such as the 911 GT1, 959, 917 and even the 928. The active rear wing is integrated directly into the bodywork, giving the car a very clean silhouette despite its wide and low proportions.

Inside, Porsche takes almost the opposite approach to the current trend for oversized screens. The Mission S features five round instruments behind the steering wheel, including a central rev counter that combines an analogue needle with a digital display. A retractable smartphone holder can be used for navigation, while physical controls and even the ignition key positioned to the left of the steering wheel deliberately reference classic Porsche models.

The most interesting part, however, is still unknown. Porsche has not yet confirmed the powertrain, output, performance figures or launch date. What is clear is the mid-engined layout, while the exact drivetrain remains open, with the possibility of an electrified combustion engine.

For now, the Mission S mainly gives us a glimpse of what Porsche could be preparing above the 911 at the top of its performance range. More exclusive, more radical and aimed directly at supercars from Ferrari and McLaren, it could also be positioned as a permanent production model rather than a one-off halo car.

If the production version stays close to this concept, Porsche may be creating one of the most important models of its next decade.
