La Cambre Celebrates 100 Years of Art, Design and Creative Vision
For a century, La Cambre has helped shape the creative landscape of Belgium while earning an international reputation in art, design and architecture. Founded in 1927 by Henry van de Velde, the Brussels institution has educated generations of artists, designers and architects whose influence extends far beyond the country’s borders.
To mark its 100th anniversary, La Cambre is inviting the public to rediscover its remarkable legacy through an ambitious programme running from November 2026 to December 2027. Rather than looking only to the past, the centenary will highlight how creativity continues to respond to today’s social, cultural and environmental challenges.

Over fourteen months, visitors can expect exhibitions, performances, talks, publications and special events bringing together students, alumni, teachers and international partners. It is an opportunity to explore the evolution of one of Europe’s most respected creative schools while discovering the ideas and talents shaping the future of design.
The celebrations will also shine a light on the school’s original philosophy. Since its creation, La Cambre has championed experimentation, craftsmanship and interdisciplinary thinking, values that remain just as relevant in today’s rapidly changing creative industries.
Beyond the anniversary itself, the programme reinforces Brussels’ position as one of Europe’s leading design capitals. Whether you are passionate about contemporary art, architecture, fashion or product design, the centenary offers countless reasons to step inside an institution that has quietly influenced the creative world for the past hundred years.
A celebration of heritage, innovation and imagination, La Cambre 100 promises to be one of Brussels’ cultural highlights of 2027.
