Brussels-based artist Eric Adam presents his latest exhibition, Jonction, which explores the urban environment of Brussels Central Station. With a background in graphic design and a stint as a musician, Adam’s work focuses on capturing the often-overlooked aspects of city life—those quiet, reflective moments that occur amid the hustle of daily routines.
Adam’s fascination with urban landscapes started when he moved to Brussels at 19. A former frontman of the rock band Someday My Prince Will Come, he transitioned from the music scene to visual art, where he found a new way to express his love for the city. “I’ve always been drawn to the contrasts of urban spaces,” Adam says. “There’s something captivating about how people can feel so disconnected, even when they’re surrounded by others.”
His latest exhibition, Jonction, focuses on the Jonction Nord-Midi tunnel, a place where the bright platforms of Brussels Central Station contrast with the dark, empty tracks below. Through a series of monochromatic paintings, Adam explores themes of solitude, anticipation, and the passage of time. “People waiting for trains are often glued to their phones, oblivious to the world around them. That disconnection fascinates me,” Adam explains.
His work often captures that fleeting moment between movement and stillness, a theme familiar to many men navigating busy city life. The exhibition’s stark color palette and Adam’s meticulous stencil technique mirror the precision and structure of the station, yet evoke a sense of isolation and introspection. “Working with stencils is a process that demands focus. It’s almost like a meditative escape from reality,” Adam says.
Running at Studio 84, Jonction showcases Adam’s ability to merge art and architecture, drawing viewers into the subtle interplay of light, shadow, and motion in a space many take for granted. The exhibition is open until October 11th—an opportunity to see how one of Brussels’ most unique voices translates the chaos of urban life into captivating art.
