Ibiza Beyond Summer: The Quiet Luxury of Sabina

On Ibiza’s western coast, Sabina offers a different way to experience the island, bringing together contemporary architecture, Mediterranean nature and the slower rhythm of autumn and winter.
Ibiza may be synonymous with long summer days and crowded beaches, but the island reveals a very different personality once the peak season comes to an end. Between October and February, milder temperatures and a quieter atmosphere offer travellers the opportunity to rediscover the White Isle at a slower and more authentic pace.
With around 300 days of sunshine each year, Ibiza remains attractive well beyond summer. Cooler days are ideal for hiking around Es Vedrà, exploring the dramatic landscape of Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort or cycling through the island’s countryside. Its beaches become peaceful again, while markets such as Sant Jordi and Las Dalias offer a more relaxed introduction to local food, crafts and culture.
This is also the perfect season to visit Ibiza Town and explore Dalt Vila, the island’s UNESCO listed fortified old town, or the ancient necropolis of Puig des Molins. Restaurants including Sa Capella and Juntos Ibiza remain open throughout the year, revealing an island that continues to live well after the summer crowds have departed.
Architecture overlooking the Mediterranean
Set on a hillside along Ibiza’s western coast, Sabina is a private estate composed of 54 villas designed by fourteen internationally recognised architects. The project approaches luxury through architecture, privacy and a close relationship with the surrounding Mediterranean landscape.
Among the architects represented are John Pawson, Sir David Chipperfield, Marcio Kogan and Suzana Kloglowski of Studio MK27. Pawson’s two residences are his only villas on Ibiza, while Chipperfield’s singular property represents his first and only work in the Balearic Islands.
The homes have been individually designed, yet share an emphasis on natural light, generous proportions and uninterrupted views across the sea. The largest residences extend from 800 to 1,100 square metres and include six or seven bedrooms, expansive living spaces, landscaped gardens and private saltwater swimming pools.
A limited selection of properties is available for seasonal rental, with a minimum stay of one month. The rental villas offer between four and nine en suite bedrooms, private pools, cinema and family rooms, outdoor barbecues and views of Ibiza’s celebrated sunsets.
The result combines the independence of a private residence with the discreet services and facilities normally associated with a luxury hotel.
A private retreat with a social heart
At the centre of the estate, the Clubhouse designed by Rolf Blakstad brings residents and guests together. It includes a restaurant and bar, spa, swimming pool, Kids’ Club, amphitheatre and a non denominational temple.
Elsewhere across the estate, facilities include a fully equipped gym, tennis and padel courts and a children’s playground. Cala Bassa and Cala Comte, two of the island’s best known beaches, are nearby, while Ibiza Town can be reached in approximately thirty minutes by car.
Sabina was conceived with environmental responsibility as a central part of the project. Its approach encompasses water preservation, energy efficiency, local materials, waste management and the careful integration of buildings into the landscape. The estate has received BREEAM Excellent certification, a significant achievement for a residential development of this scale.
Away from the energy of peak season, Sabina proposes another vision of Ibiza. It is one shaped by architecture, nature and privacy, with enough time to appreciate the island rather than simply pass through it.
