Echoes of Home: Kayoon Anderson’s Debut Solo Exhibition

EDJI Gallery presents Echoes of Home, a solo exhibition by British-Korean artist Kayoon Anderson. This collection of new works delves into themes of motherhood, memory, and identity, offering an intimate exploration of personal and cultural connections. As Anderson’s first solo show, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the layered relationships between past, present, and future.

A Visual Dialogue Across Generations
In Echoes of Home, Anderson examines the continuum of family bonds. Her paintings celebrate both the inherited wisdom of her forebears and the tender experiences of her own journey into motherhood. Through a multi-generational lens, she bridges her Korean and British identities, crafting compositions that connect cultural heritage with contemporary experience.

The figures in her works are grounded in their environments, blending seamlessly into architectural spaces. This harmony between person and place creates a contemplative stillness, where everyday moments are transformed into universal reflections.

Blurring Memory and Imagination
Anderson’s creative process draws from family photographs, reimagined through memory and her artistic vision. Her influences range from European medieval art to traditional Korean still life, known as Mungbando Art, resulting in a style that is both playful and deliberate. Subtle color palettes and layered compositions infuse her work with warmth, balancing nostalgia and presence.
