Élysée Montmartre Hôtel: A Boutique Stay in the Heart of Pigalle

Hidden between two of Paris’s most iconic music venues—the legendary Trianon and Élysée Montmartre—the Élysée Montmartre Hôtel offers a unique retreat in the heart of the city’s vibrant Pigalle district.

With just 16 rooms, including four duplex suites, the hotel blends artistic energy with the tranquility of Montmartre, creating an intimate space where music and design coexist.

Imagined by producer Abel Nahmias and architect Julien Labrousse, the hotel’s design draws inspiration from the neighborhood’s rich history. Each piece of furniture is custom-made from eucalyptus wood, a sustainable material typically used for paper, now repurposed to add warmth and elegance to the space. The walls reveal glimpses of exposed bricks, and the sculpted wooden ceilings echo the craftsmanship of a bygone era.

The Élysée Montmartre itself holds a storied past. Opened in 1807, it began as a ballroom where Parisians danced the cancan and later became a hub for cabaret and theatrical performances. By the 20th century, it had evolved into a renowned concert venue, hosting artists from Edith Piaf to David Bowie and Daft Punk. Today, its legacy lives on through live performances that attract music lovers from around the world.

The minimalist bathrooms feature rosy stone basins sourced from Portugal, inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates natural imperfections and simple materials. Meanwhile, the breakfast area offers carefully selected coffees from independent roasters, adding a touch of artisanal charm to the morning experience.

For music lovers, the Élysée Montmartre Hôtel is more than just a place to stay. Guests can bypass lines and enjoy exclusive access to concerts next door, making the hotel an ideal base for discovering Paris’s live music scene. A hidden screening room also offers a nostalgic collection of 1980s and 1990s Laserdisc films and concerts, providing a private escape within the hotel’s cozy walls.

Blending the lively spirit of Pigalle with the calm of Montmartre, the Élysée Montmartre Hôtel stands as a space where past and present intersect—offering both the buzz of the city and the serenity of a personal sanctuary.
