Citizen Tsuno Chrono: A Watch Designed Sideways
Most watchmakers spend decades refining familiar formulas. Citizen chose another route. By rotating the movement of its Challenger Timer in 1973, the Japanese brand created one of the most distinctive chronographs of its era. The new Citizen Tsuno Chrono revisits that bold idea with a modern, everyday approach.

Directly inspired by the original model, the Citizen Tsuno Chrono retains the signature « bullhead » configuration that made it famous. The crown and pushers remain positioned at 12 o’clock, while the black bezel, compact proportions and graphic dial preserve the character of the 1973 icon. The result is a watch that feels instantly recognisable, even more than five decades after its debut.

The 2026 edition updates the concept without losing its personality. Housed in a 38 mm stainless-steel case with an integrated bracelet, the Citizen Tsuno Chrono is designed for daily wear. Water resistant to 5 ATM and powered by a quartz movement, it combines vintage appeal with practicality and precision.
Two versions are available. The cream dial model pays tribute to the original Challenger Timer and its classic panda-inspired look. Alongside it, a luminous green dial edition limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide adds a contemporary edge. On this version, the date display moves to 5 o’clock, freeing space for an additional chronograph counter at 6 o’clock and enhancing functionality.

Powered by Citizen’s Caliber 0510 quartz movement, the watch features chronograph functions, a date display and luminous hands and indexes. More than a nostalgic reissue, the Citizen Tsuno Chrono demonstrates how a daring design can remain relevant across generations.
