News – Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 4MATIC+ (2026) : The return of the six-cylinder
Mercedes-AMG unveils the new GLC 53 4MATIC+, a SUV that marks a clear return to raw mechanical sensations. The controversial hybrid setups of previous versions are gone: instead, a thoroughly reworked 3.0-litre inline-six takes center stage, designed to deliver sharper response, stronger character, and more emotion at high revs.
At its core, the engine produces 449 hp and 600 Nm (640 Nm with overboost), thanks to an optimized turbocharger paired with an electric compressor. The result is instant response across the entire rev range and a 0–100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds with the appropriate package. Top speed rises to 270 km/h, while the AMG soundtrack has been carefully tuned to enhance the emotional driving experience, especially under hard acceleration.

The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and the SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission ensure intelligent and variable traction, capable of shifting towards a more rear-biased driving character. For the first time on the GLC, an electronically controlled rear differential is offered, including a Drift Mode reserved for closed-circuit use, further enhancing the SUV’s playful character.
The AMG Ride Control chassis and standard rear-axle steering deliver a balance between agility and stability. Up to 100 km/h, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to reduce the turning circle, then in the same direction at higher speeds to improve stability. High-performance brakes and multiple AMG DYNAMIC SELECT modes complete a setup designed to adapt to every driving style.

With this new GLC 53 4MATIC+, Mercedes-AMG clearly aims to restore what many felt was missing from recent AMG models. Driving purists will appreciate the return of sound and mechanical engagement. We look forward to getting behind the wheel and sharing the experience.
