Mascarpone is a film by Alessandro Guida and Matteo Pilati
Out of the blue, Antonio (Giancarlo Commare) is dumped by his husband. Antonio’s search for somewhere to stay leads him to Denis (Eduardo Valdarnini) – a sex-worker with a passion for opera and a flair with the French language.
Realising that Antonio is struggling to pay the rent, Denis arranges for Antonio to start work with his fuck-buddy, Luca (Gianmarco Saurino). Luca runs a bakery, which helps to unlock Antonio’s passion for patisserie.
Under the wing of Denis and Luca, Antonio starts to rebuild his sense of self, but there’s more emotional ups and downs ahead as Antonio tries to make his own way in the world.
This is a really watchable and engaging film with fully-realised characters that feel more authentic than we’re sometimes subjected to in queer movies. Mascarpone is definitely a film that’s worth adding to your watch-list.
