We become flat, burned by pain and anonymous. We pretend, we hide behind our makeup, our smiles our laughs and in the meantime we lose ourselves.”
Illya Knight
As an accomplished fashion photographer and stylist Knight longs to peel away the layers of modern fashion to show his subjects in their true form. Modest unveils the masks the we hide behind.
Illya Knight began his fashion career as a Booking Editor at Trace Magazine. Knight was then recruited by Barney’s New York as Fashion Merchandising Coordinator and also the youngest associate in corporate.
Knight soon embarked on what would become an illustrious freelance career. He has contributed to publications as i-D, Numero, Dazed and Confused, Neo2, Tatler, L’Officiel and advertisers such as Marc by Marc Jacobs for Barney’s New York, Sony Vaio, HBO and GAP. Knight has collaborated with many of the industry’s top photographers such as Greg Lotus, Terry Richardson, Xevi, Matt Jones, Tesh, Donald McPherson, David Roemer, Eva Mueller, Andrew Yee, Nicolas Moore, Thomas Schenk, and Tom Munro.
Knight himself has ventured into photography shooting for publications such as Noi.se, Kenton, Highlights, Style Monte Carlo, H Magazine, Codigo, And Men, Wad, Bleu, Vague Mgazine, Lucire Magazine and Kult.
Knight has been a guest speaker at Parsons School of Design, Brooks Photography in LA, and Lim Fashion School NYC.
